Tchouameni ‘chooses’ Madrid

Liverpool look to have lost out in their pursuit of Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni after reports emerged that the youngster has agreed to join Real Madrid.

The two clubs were vying for the 22-year-old’s signature after Monaco chief Paul Mitchell admitted the club were ready to sell the defensive midfielder. Now RMC Sport claim that Tchouameni has made his mind up on a switch to the Bernabeu in a deal worth around €80m (£68.6m) plus bonuses.

Mbappe reveals Liverpool talks

French striker Kylia Mbappe has just signed a new blockbuster deal with French outfit Paris Saint-Germain to keep him at the club until 2025, but the 23-year-old has since revealed that he had talks with Liverpool over a potential move to Anfield before committing his immediate future to the Ligue 1 champions.

Mbappe’s contract was due to run out at the end of the season and it was widely believed that the Frenchman would be moving to Real Madrid this summer on a free transfer, until that all changed. Yet the striker has revealed to the Telegraph that he did hold talks with the Reds before agreeing on a new deal in Paris.

He said: “We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit. “I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her. It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”

Real Madrid backed to make “no-brainer” Salah transfer

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is yet to agree on a new deal at Anfield this season, with just one year remaining on his current contract, but those at the club are confident he will put pen to paper on new and improved terms soon in order to keep him on Merseyside for the foreseeable future.

But following their failed attempt to sign Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe this summer, La Liga champions have now been backed to sign Salah as a result in what would be a “no-brainer” move according to European football expert Julien Laurens, who was speaking on the Gab and Juls podcast, via the Express .

He said: “You go and try Mo Salah, which for me is a no-brainer. He would fit so well because of where he plays with Vinicius and Benzema. And for who he is, for the market that he has, for the form that he’s been in for the last five years even at his age, you go for him.”
