Manchester United are in need of a victory on Saturday as they look to keep their top four hopes alive against Everton.
Another disappointing performance last week saw United drop more points in their 1-1 draw with Leicester at Old Trafford. It proved to be a huge missed opportunity, with Arsenal going on to lose to Crystal Palace just a couple of days later.
The Gunners’ defeat keeps United in the hunt for that coveted final Champions League spot, though, which is currently occupied by Tottenham. With a tough fixture schedule in their final eight games though, Ralf Rangnick’s side have it all to do.
The interim boss has plenty of question marks over his side as they prepare to head to Goodison Park for Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off. His cause won’t have been made any easier by the absence of four players ahead of the weekend.
Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles are likely to return to the back four alongside Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo should return to the line-up after missing last week’s clash with Leicester through illness.
The Portuguese ace should be back leading the line after last weekend’s experiment with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes playing as a front two failed once again. Ronaldo will likely be flanked by Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga, with Marcus Rashford firmly out of favour at the moment.
The biggest question mark perhaps comes in midfield. With McTominay out, there will perhaps be a debate over whether Nemanja Matic should come into the side in place of one of Pogba or Fred, although Rangnick may well stick rather than twist.
Manchester United predicted team vs Everton (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; Pogba, Fred; Elanga, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo.
