UN should hold North Korea accountable for ‘threats to peace’: State Department

North Korea will face “continued consequences and accountability” for its “provocations,” a U.S. State Department spokesperson said Thursday, while calling on the U.N. Security Council to “stand up to threats to international peace.”

The remarks come as Washington pushes for new U.N. sanctions against North Korea for its latest long-range ballistic missile test last month, with U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield meeting a top Chinese diplomat on Wednesday to push for a “unified” response.
