Pochettino’s United plans
As United’s search for their next permanent manager continues, Mauricio Pochettino is one of the leading contenders to land the role, alongside Ajax boss Erik ten Hag. Pochettino has long had admirers inside the boardroom at Old Trafford, and he’s now offered an insight into how he could transform the club.
During an interview with Rio Ferdinand for BT Sport’s Between the Lines series, Pochettino was asked about his approach when going into a new club. He revealed that he would look to build around the “culture” of any of his future employers.
He said: “For me, when you arrive at a new club, it’s about agreeing things and trying to decide the best strategy to arrive where you want, but always building knowing the culture of the club, knowing how the fans love football, the history of the club, all this is really important.”
Manchester United receive defensive boost
Raphael Varane was forced to miss Ralf Rangnick’s second defeat in charge of United as they slumped to a 4-1 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday. As they look to get back to winning ways against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, their Champions League hopes hang in the balance.
After beating Spurs earlier this season and ending Nuno Espirito Santo’s short term in charge, they’re now preparing to face a different proposition in Antonio Conte’s side. As United look to pick up the pieces, they’ve received a boost with news on their French defender’s injury.
