Sevilla have officially announced Anthony Martial has joined the club on loan from Manchester United.
Martial arrived in Spain on Tuesday afternoon ahead of his medical and he’s now officially put pen to paper at the Sanchez Pijuan.
The forward has joined Sevilla on loan until the end of the season and the Spanish club will cover all of his wages.
United haven’t received a loan fee for Martial and there is no option to make the move permanent at the end of the season. The 26-year-old has only started four games for United this term and a loan move to Sevilla promises more minutes on the pitch.
Sevilla’s official club statement read: “Sevilla FC and Manchester United FC have reached an agreement which will see Anthony Martial, born in Massy, France on 5th December 1995, join the club on loan until the end of the current season.
“The club have completed a major signing and have strengthened their attacking options, with the player able to play either as a striker or on either flank, preferably on the left, where he can cut inside. “
Martial informed Ralf Rangnick of his desire to leave the club in search of game time prior to the January transfer window.
Martial was subsequently left out of United’s matchday squads following that discussion regarding his preference to leave and Rangnick claimed the player asked to be left out of his plans for United’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa earlier this month.
That matter was soon resolved and Martial returned to the matchday squad against Brentford.
