Man Utd v Brentford postponed due to COVID

There’s a lingering feeling of uncertainty around the Premier League at the moment, especially following the postponement of Manchester United’s clash with Brentford.

An outbreak of Covid-19 cases in the Red Devils camp prompted the suspension of the game, making it two matches in quick succession that have had to be pushed back in English football’s top flight – Tottenham vs. Brighton was postponed on Sunday for the same reason.

However, United will need to keep looking forward and preparing for matches, especially as the festive period represents an ideal chance for interim boss Ralf Rangnick to get some points on the board quickly.

Lingard makes transfer decision

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is said to be unlikely to leave the club in January.

The England international’s contract at Old Trafford is set to run out at the end of the season and he’s been linked with a cut-price mid-campaign move as a result.

Newly-rich Newcastle United have been continually linked with Lingard.

However, it would appear the 28-year-old is ready to fight for a place in the squad under Rangnick and then assess his options at the end of the campaign.

United are reportedly ready to do a deal for Lingard in January given the prospect of losing him on a free transfer a few months on.

United stars make FIFPro cut

Manchester United’s Portuguese pair of Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes have been named in the 23-man provisional squad for 2021 FIFPro World XI.

The votes for the award are based on performance in the 2020-21 season, in which Ronaldo was still at Juventus.

Although the Italian side relinquished their nine-year grip on the Serie A title, the veteran forward was on target an impressive 29 times in 33 games in the competition.

Meanwhile, Fernandes was the driving force behind United finishing in second in the Premier League last season, contributing 18 goals and 12 assists in English football’s top flight.

Rooney’s car vandalised

Given he’s currently managing financially-ruined Derby County, Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney has not been enjoying the most prosperous spell of his football career.

Things don’t appear to be going well for him away from the pitch either, as his Land Rover was left vandalised after parking it overnight at a Christmas market.

Rooney’s vehicle was apparently left graffitied, while the vandals also put orange cones around it and left a “No Parking” sign under one of the window wipers.

The former England international reportedly refused to move the vehicle when told the space was reserved for church bell ringers and that Rooney went to a local pub to spend time with friends.
